Jim Szymeczek serves as Head of Biometrics at Symbio, where he leads the company’s global Biometrics organization, overseeing Data Management and Biostatistics. He joined Symbio in June 2026 and brings more than 35 years of experience in pharmaceutical research and development, including over 30 years in the CRO industry. Jim holds a Master of Public Health in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from North Carolina State University. Throughout his career, he has held executive leadership positions including Vice President of Biometrics at Covance, Executive Director of Biostatistics at Medpace and Chiltern, and Chief Information Officer at both Chiltern and Catalyst Clinical Research.
Jim’s expertise spans drug development, biostatistics, technology strategy, global team leadership, merger integration, and client management. He has extensive experience with SAS, R, and statistical computing environments, as well as strategic partnerships with leading technology providers including Saama, Veeva, and Medidata. A recognized leader in technology innovation, Jim has successfully led the deployment of AI solutions within CROs, established AI governance policies, and implemented procedures to support the responsible use of artificial intelligence in clinical development. His combination of scientific expertise, operational leadership, and technology innovation helps sponsors accelerate development programs while maintaining the highest standards of quality and data integrity.
