Peter Bernthaler, PhD

Peter is Director of Business Development bringing 20 years of experience in clinical research and novel drug development. Over the past 16 years at Symbio, he has played a pivotal role in expanding market presence, driving revenue growth, and fostering key client relationships across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Peter holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology and a Diploma in Biology from Julius-Maximilians University in Wuerzburg, Germany. Always hungry for knowledge he has pursued additional training in Economics at the Hamburger Fernakademie and has earned certifications in sales training.
Before transitioning into business development in 2016, Peter held various operational roles in clinical research, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the industry. Most recently, he served as Head of Business Development at Proinnovera GmbH, where he played a key role in the company’s merger with Symbio in 2023, leading due diligence efforts and supporting the integration process as part of the senior leadership team.
His areas of expertise include dermatology (with a focus on mast-cell mediated diseases and aesthetics), gastroenterology, and allergology. His scientific background, combined with his strategic business development skills, makes him a driving force in Symbio’s global expansion and client engagement initiatives.
